Fabergé, Iconic Luxury Jeweller, sold in $50m deal to SMG Capital

12 August 2025 — Seven Rivers Capital (SRC) is delighted to announce that its investors are participating in the financing of the landmark acquisition of Fabergé, one of the most celebrated names in luxury, by U.S.-based investment firm SMG Capital. This transaction, valued at USD 50 million, marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for a house whose name has become synonymous with artistry, heritage, and uncompromising craftsmanship.

Founded in 1842, Fabergé rose to international fame as the master jeweller to the Russian Imperial Court, creating the world’s most exquisite objets d’art — the legendary Imperial Easter eggs. Over nearly two centuries, the Fabergé name has come to represent the pinnacle of decorative artistry, blending impeccable design with an unparalleled mastery of precious materials.

Under the agreement announced on 11 August 2025, SMG Capital will acquire Fabergé from Gemfields Group for USD 45 million payable upon completion later this month, with a further USD 5 million to be paid in performance-linked royalties. The sale marks the close of Gemfields’ twelve-year stewardship, during which the brand expanded its portfolio of high jewellery, timepieces, and objets d’art.

SMG Capital — led by entrepreneur and investor Sergei Mosunov — is committed to re-energising Fabergé for a new era. The strategic vision combines respect for the brand’s storied past with an ambitious plan to elevate its global presence, enhance its creative output, and connect with a new generation of collectors and connoisseurs.

SMG Capital aim to ensure that Fabergé remains not only a jewel of the past, but also a shining beacon in the future of luxury.
