Seven Rivers Capital Welcomes Opening of Honorary Consulate of Belgium in Shymkent

Shymkent, Kazakhstan – February 26, 2026 – Seven Rivers Capital proudly supports the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Belgium in Shymkent, a milestone that strengthens Belgium–Kazakhstan relations and creates new opportunities for trade, investment, and collaboration across southern Kazakhstan.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador Erik De Meyer, Akim (Governor) of Shymkent Gabit Syzdykbekov, and representatives of the diplomatic and business communities. The consulate will cover Shymkent, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, and Zhambyl regions.

Akim (Governor) Syzdykbekov highlighted Shymkent’s strong industrial, investment, and logistics potential, noting that closer European partnerships — especially with Belgium — remain a strategic priority.

Dr. Saken Savet, Associate Partner at Seven Rivers Capital and Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Republic of Kazakhstan (appointed in 2025, with jurisdiction including Shymkent), plays a pivotal role in this development.

“This opening aligns perfectly with our mission to connect capital with innovative ideas in frontier markets,” said Arkady Rakhilkin, CEO of Seven Rivers Capital. “We congratulate Dr. Saken Savet on his consular role and look forward to leveraging this enhanced diplomatic presence to facilitate meaningful investments and partnerships between Belgian and Kazakhstani businesses, contributing to positive global impact.”
